Gandhi jayanthi Celebrated in London


London: On the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and International Day of Non-Violence, High Commissioner of India, along with former Mayor Councillor Richard Cotton and Mr. CB Patel, Dr.Cyriac Maprayil, (vice chair India League)paid tribute to Bapu at the famous Gandhi statue at Tavistock Square London. The event was marked by speeches citing Bapu's messages; chanting of Bapu's favourite bhajans sung by students of Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan; prayers offered by two Buddhist monks and release of a commemorative stamp. In the end, a peace march was organised by the Indian community organisations such as India League, Gita Foundation and National Association of Patidar Samaj.
